I am a cell biologist, and my research focus is on the regulation of cell division (cytokinesis). In other words, how do cells know when and where to divide? I am using budding yeast as a model organism, and am examining how a signaling pathway that regulates exit from mitosis also triggers cytokinesis.
I am also interested in the science of teaching and learning. Using and developing research based methods of instruction can help me more effectively teach my students.
My courses are Cell Biology, Cancer Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, Molecular Genetics and Lab, and Prehealth Communication.
I am the Pre-health advisor for S&T, as well as director of the confocal microscopy facility.
I'm faculty advisor for Scrubs and iGEM.
