Dr. Kimball's primary field is power electronics, with particular interests in microgrids, solar energy, high-gain power converters, and electric vehicle charging. He leads a team that is developing an extreme fast charging (XFC) station that will enable electric vehicles to reach full charge in less than ten minutes. He is also working on cyber-physical system security, and with the Missouri S&T Satellite Research Team (M-SAT).
