Biography

Before arriving at Missouri S&T, Dr. Behrendt was Academic Advisor at the Center for Russian and East European Studies at the University of Pittsburgh and Program Coordinator/NewsNet Editor for the Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies (ASEEES). He completed his PhD at the University of Pittsburgh (2016), his MA at the University of Chicago (2008), and his BA at Grinnell College (2006).

Research

Research interests

Cultural and social history, primarily Hungary and Austria, with particular emphases on tourism, cinema, nationalism, mass media, the politics of leisure, food history, and the legacies of the Habsburg Empire.
