Ashish R. Kumar, Ph.D., P.E. is an assistant research professor of mining engineering in the Department of Mining and Explosives Engineering . He teaches several graduate and undergraduate level mining engineering courses. He was previously a post-doctoral scholar at the University of Kentucky.
He has a progressive experience as an assistant manager of operations in a 20.0 MTPA surface mine captive to a 6,000 MW super-critical thermal power plant. His research interests include complex multi-phase CFD modeling, automation and control, mine ventilation and fire dynamics, aerosol transportation, sustainable operations, and extra-terrestrial mining. He serves on several sub-committees of the SME. He is a registered professional engineer in KY.
